Scene setup, texturing, animation, and Render: Steven Jenkins
I took a course a few years ago called Lettering Animation, by Austin Saylor. He taught us how to do some transitions in 2d animation. One of the techniques is called Sleight of Hand. The transition happens during a fast motion move. Cool! I decided to apply this technique to 3d text animation, rendering it out in Redshift. Using Redshift's motion blur helps further hide the transition and smooth everything out.

Mini Breakdown
A tip: if possible, for the two words you are switching between, choose ones that have the same number of letters. This allows pairing of letters from the first word to the second. Turns out that this was a time-saving planning step. You can do searches online for word pairs, such as antonyms, that have the same number of letters.
